🔗 Share this article The Latest Relaxed Game Mode Ignites Intense Discussions Over Bots, Experience Points, and Wait Times Over the weekend, the game developers introduced a fresh playlist called Casual Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode resembles the standard Breakthrough setup but features several key adjustments: Every squad includes only 8 human participants, with the rest filled by AI-controlled opponents. Actions performed by human gamers grant complete experience points, while AI activities offer reduced XP. Only two maps are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State. Elements like Player tags, accolades, and stat tracking have been turned off. So essentially, the playlist lives up to its title: it offers a casual version of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think it's a good idea, since it provides additional choices for players seeking different ways to enjoy the game. But, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that you can't please everyone. Which is to say, a lot of BF6 players are upset. Player Responses: Anger to Praise "People want human opponents. Avoid making the errors of your rivals," states a response to the official announcement. "Absolutely shocking idea," comments another. Meanwhile, in community forums, a player remarks, "It's unclear where we are going with this title," while another details all the issues they consider to be problematic in the game: "Fix bugs, fix drone glitch, correct rocket mechanics, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this bot mode." However, amid the criticism, there are players sharing how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to warm up, real players keep it from being a complete grind but it's quite laid-back," reads a forum post. "The community doesn't understand that there are players who actually go outside and don't play this game all the time. Let them find a middle ground," adds a different comment. One reply on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," while someone else applauds the mode for "not being overcompetitive." Valid Criticisms and Player Feedback Despite the support, players have valid points to complain about the new mode. A few folks have highlighted that it could increase queue times even longer for other modes because of the sheer number of options in the game already. Similarly, some areas already encounter mostly bots in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of real players, even though it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents. Finally, one of the biggest grievances is that Battlefield Portal was promised to offer full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they attempted to eliminate XP farming from the mode. So Casual Breakthrough feels like the community compromising in the middle, as per a Reddit comment. Another describes this mode as the devs "making a mistake so hard, I had great enjoyment in the initial release, why did they feel the need to adjust it?" Looking Ahead: Adjustments Occur? If the development team has proven anything to date with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and acting on player input. Assignments that were overly hard were adjusted rapidly, as did the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, should analytics indicates this recent mode isn't performing to their standards, they won't be shy to change it again.
