The Accident Per a release from his family, Shipley was operating a machine when it caught fire. The 40-year-old managed to escape, it was after he suffered major burn injuries over a large area of his body. He was able to get to one of his workers, who transported him to a local hospital. He was then care-flighted to Austin, where he remains in serious but stable condition. “Please pray for full healing and no infections or other issues on his road to recovery,” wrote his brother, Jaxon Shipley, on social media. Severity of the Burns It has been reported that Shipley received third-degree burns to over one-fifth of his body. Family members have stated that the main danger at this stage is infection and pneumonia. A Look Back at Jordan Shipley's Football Journey Shipley earned All-American honors while at Texas in 2009. During his college career, he amassed 248 receptions for 3,191 yards and 33 touchdowns. A dual-sport athlete, he also competed in track for the university. Drafted in the third round of the 2010 draft by the Bengals, he had stints with multiple NFL teams over his professional career. His retirement came in 2014.
